Course Overview
This course is provided by Tyro Training and the qualification is accredited by City and Guilds. It is intended for individuals who identify and agree learning aims and programmes for individuals, developing training sessions, creating a climate that promotes learning and monitoring/reviewing progress with learners. They may also be assessing candidates, enabling learning through a variety of interventions, supporting and advising learners.
To achieve a full award, candidates must complete nine units, including six mandatory units and three optional units (two from one choice of four and one from a further choice of five). Candidates choose the optional units that best suit their work situation and job role.
Like all NVQs this qualification is competence-based. This means that it is linked to the candidate’s ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work. Candidates plan a programme of development and assessment with their assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove that they are competent and knowledgeable in their work role.

What
This is an online course, all the training will be taken through your browser window. There will be no face-to-face sessions with instructors nor will you receive any training material through the post. If you wish you may print out any page of the training material, and may also print the notes you took during the training.
You can also revisit the training material at any time, even after you have completed the course.
How
The material for this course has been broken down into several smaller lessons, each lesson dealing with a specific area of the overall subject.
The lesson consist of a series of pages in which an instructor will talk you through the lesson material at a pace that suits you. Pages may also include supporting pictures, graphs, animation or extra sounds to help with the learning where appropriate. Some lessons will include challenges/quizzes to help you keep in touch and interested in the material.
Lessons can be taken in any order and each lesson may be PAUSED and RESUMED at any stage. When all lessons in the course have been completed our system will realise and automatically record that you have successfully completed the course
When
The course consists of a face-to-face induction (0.5 days) followed by under-pinning knowledge delivered through online learning materials with evidence generated for assessment through guided activities. An observation of practice is an essential requirement of this programme. All other assessment is conducted by the creation of an e-portfolio.
A minimum of 10 weeks is required to complete this programme, though it is envisaged that completion will be approximately 9 months, working on an average completion of 1 unit per month.
