Simple, cost effective, high-impact food safety and hygiene course to protect your customers and your business.
This training has been designed to allow every business, regardless of size or turnover, to provide their staff first class training at a fraction of the cost and disruption of classroom based training. The content of the course is checked annually by the Royal Institute of Public Health to ensure the accuracy and relevance of the material. This module can be used as a self-study course at level 2 (formerly known as Foundation or Basic Food Hygiene). This course covers the 2007 update to the UK Food Standards including HACCP items.
Upon completion of this course all learners will receive a Certificate in Food Safety and Hygiene that will show the business is doing everything it can to prevent contamination and met its legal requirements. We’ve made every effort to keep the training as friendly, understandable and down to earth as possible but at the same time equipping the learner with all they need to know to protect against food poisoning and food-bourne illness.
It is believed that over 5,000,000 people in UK a year contract an illness from food. Environmental Health Authorities are increasingly investigating the source of the infection(s) and if businesses can be proven to have not made provisions for health and safety standards the guilty parties are often prosecuted and fined. Not only are these fines expensive but also have a very damaging effect on the business’s reputation.
Often the cause of a contamination isn’t particularly scientific, rather a result of one or two simple oversights in the Safety practices already in place. Correction and implementation of these practices doesn’t have to be complicated or time consuming, rarely involve costly equipment they just have to be pragmatic, safe and rigidly stuck to. In doing this training the learner will develop a clear awareness and understanding of the potential risks and the steps to take in avoiding, controlling or eliminating the risks. Learners will know the correct temperatures needed for storage and food handling activities from delivery through to sale, and be aware of common food pests and how to control them, along with the principles of cleaning and disinfection and how these apply to the workplace.

Target Audience
This food safety and hygiene module is aimed at anyone working in a role that involves contact with food, or the management of such people; regulations require that anyone involved in food handling must be appropriately trained in food safety. The module can be used either as Induction, Awareness, Refresher and Foundation Training.
Accreditation
On completion of this course you will be sent a Virtual College certificate highlighting the completion of a Royal Institute of Public Health approved Food Hygiene course

There will be no face-to-face sessions with instructors nor will you receive any training material through the post. How
The material for this course has been broken down into several smaller lessons, each lesson dealing with a specific area of the overall subject.
The lesson consist of a series of pages in which an instructor will talk you through the lesson material at a pace that suits you. Some lessons will include challenges/quizzes to help you keep in touch and interested in the material.
