Course Overview


The Level 2 Certificate in Housing has been designed to meet the learning needs of a wide range of people including:
  • Those people not currently working in housing but considering frontline housing positions as a career option.
  • Tenants wishing to explore housing issues to enhance their personal involvement and / or understanding of housing issues.
  • People who are new to housing.
  • Workers in a frontline housing position .
  • Workers in a sector closely related to housing who are seeking to improve their general awareness of housing issues.

The Level 2 Certificate in Housing gives you the introductory skills, knowledge and understanding to work effectively within housing. Level 2 is equivalent to a GCSE (grades A-C) or an NVQ Level 2. The Level 2 Certificate can work as an ideal induction programme.

How
The course is delivered via a blended learning approach, using online e-learning and support, together with ‘face to face’ workshops. You can also revisit the training material at any time, even after you have completed the course.

What
The online material for this course consists of a number of interactive e-learning modules, each one dealing with a specific area of the overall subject. These may also include supporting pictures, graphs, animation or extra sounds to help with the learning where appropriate. Some modules will include challenges/quizzes to help you check your knowledge and understanding of the material.

When
This is a blended programme consisting of 6 x 1 day workshops (which includes an Induction workshop), complemented with online learning modules, e-portfolio, e-assessments, together with online tutor support. These workshops can be delivered at your organisation’s offices, at a local college, or any appropriate venue.

A minimum of 20 weeks is required to complete this course.


CIH Level 3 Certificate in Housing



Course Overview


The CIH Level 3 Certificate in Housing is a vocationally related qualification for the housing sector, and is suitable for:

  • People working in housing.
  • Tenants wishing to get actively involved in the delivery of housing services.
  • Frontline workers who want to develop skills in housing.
  • People working in a specialist area of housing.
The qualification aims to:

Develop key skills and knowledge necessary to participate in housing practice.
  • Provide learners with a detailed understanding of a specialist area of housing practice.
  • Prepare learners for study at Level 4.
  • Develop key skills and knowledge necessary to participate in housing practice.

The qualification is set at Level 3 of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). Level 3 qualifications recognise the ability to gain, and where relevant apply a range of knowledge, skills and understanding. Learning at this level involves obtaining detailed knowledge and skills. It is appropriate for people wishing to go to university, people working independently, or in some areas supervising and training others in their field of work. The qualification is broadly comparable to the level of study undertaken for NVQ3, A-levels and Advanced Extension Awards.

Dutton Dodd Consultants offer the Level 3 Certificate in Housing with specialist Pathways. The Managing Housing Services Pathway aims to provide learners with the knowledge and skills necessary for managing housing services. It explores how to involve communities, how housing services are financed, and property allocation. In order to achieve this pathway, learners must complete the 3 specialist units together with 3 optional units.

The mandatory specialist units are:‘Involving Housing Service Users’, ‘Financing Housing Services Occupancy’, and ‘Tenure and Lettings’.

The optional units are:‘Repair & Maintenance’, ‘Managing Disputes’, ‘Conflicts & Anti-Social Behaviour’ and ‘Identifying the Needs of Supported Housing Clients’.
